Harveysburg Detachment Update

Many of you have asked for an update on the pending detachment case. We are so thankful that we have so many loyal, passionate supporters of this event who have been with us since the beginning of the festival back in 1990. The detachment case is separate from the targeted ticket tax Harveysburg is trying to place upon us.

In August of 2023, the festival filed a motion for summary judgement in the detachment case. This Friday, a judge will take that motion under consideration and will deliver a ruling on that motion sometime later. The detachment case is so very important because it directly impacts the well-being and safety of our communities in Massie Township and Harveysburg. As a reminder, here are a few things that will be implemented if detachment is awarded:

1. Improved Traffic Infrastructure: One of our primary objectives is to introduce a turn lane, a much-needed addition that will greatly benefit commuters in Massie and Harveysburg. This infrastructure enhancements aim to streamline traffic flow, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for everyone in the area during the event.
2. Enhanced Support for Emergency Services: In recognition of the vital role played by EMS and firefighters in safeguarding our communities, increased financial support and dedicated fundraising events would occur. These efforts are geared towards bolstering resources and capabilities, ultimately leading to improved emergency response services for residents of both Massie and Harveysburg. However, the realization of this crucial initiative hinges upon our business being an integral part of Massie Township.
3. Collaborative Efforts with Warren County: We are grateful for the invaluable support by Warren County towards our shared goals. Moving forward, we anticipate additional assistance from the county to further bolster our initiatives aimed at enhancing community infrastructure and emergency services in Massie Township and Harveysburg.

As we embark on this journey together, we are confident that these efforts will yield tangible benefits and contribute to the overall well-being of Massie Township and Harveysburg.
